Brooklyn Mole

Posted by azi on February 8, 2006

Bear with me a bit longer on all this Brooklyn stuff.

Erik Dilan (finally) was elected Brooklyn delegation chair. Kendall Stewart was elected the new budget negotiator for that borough’s delegation. The vote was unanimous. Why? Six Brooklyn Council members abstained from voting and didn’t show up (including Yvette Clarke who was honoring an Olympic athlete in the Council chambers during the vote).

But something new about the delegation’s last meeting: someone recorded it!

“Somewhere out there is a tape of that whole meeting,” one attendee said. Another added, “Nobody knew it was being recorded until the person clicked it off and started walking out.”

Can’t wait for that transcript.

Comment Response:
An aide to Yvette Clarke explained she was not in attendance and did not send a proxy vote. When approached by another council member after the meeting, Clarke said she would have voted for Dilan had she been there.

(What do you guys think about responding to comments as a regular feature on this site? Good idea?)
