Barron for Congress

Posted by azi on February 8, 2006

Charles Barron will announce his bid to take on Edolphous Towns. Barron will formally declare his candidacy at 3 p.m. on Sunday on the steps of City Hall.

“It was his political machine I beat to get into the  Council,” Barron told 51st State.

When asked about fundraising, he said, “I would need less money than most to launch a credible campaign, because of his name recognition. And who doesn’t know Charles? It also helps that Barron’s entire councilmanic is in Town’s congressional district.

More coming up.

Hat Tip
Amsterdam News noted Barron’s intention to enter the race (last line) earlier.  Crain’s Insider had the story too.

Brooklyn’s Other Delegation [updated]

Posted by azi on February 8, 2006

NY1’s Michael Scotto picks up on the Brooklyn delegation drama (which this site reported ad nauseam) [spelling corrected].

But Scotto notes that five Brooklyn city council members plan “to work on its own. But it’s unlikely Speaker Quinn will recognize the faction as its own delegation…”

A sixth borough?

And a notice from The Dept. of Delays:
Sorry for the slow start today. As you can tell from the time the last item was posted, this site is keeping a very flexible schedule.

That Tape Update:
The tape made during last week’s delegation meeting was destroyed, according to Letitia James. She said it was by someone on her staff but apparently, not at her request.

Bootleg copies? Transcripts?
