No Hablo with Addabbo?

Posted by azi on February 8, 2006

Whoever in Mike’s office is whispering about Joe Addabbo‘s possible senatorial race hasn’t told him about it yet. (Which is okay because Joe doesn’t seem to mind.)

In fact, the whole scuttlebutt about this race is based on Mike’s problem with Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno and Senator Serph Maltese, Joe said.

When asked if that made him a pawn, Joe replied, “I would be a pawn if I said I’m running. and I’m not going to do that [yet].”

Speaking of pawns and pieces, Addabbo’s longtime chief of staff Frank Gulluscio has taken a new job as District Manager of Community Board 6 located…in Serph’s district. Hmmmm.

Joe said the move was made two weeks ago, before he learned of his rumored race against Serph from a Times reporter.

Somebody call this guy.

The AP is reporting a prominent gun activist is taking aim at Joe Bruno because the Senate Republicans have  “become more Democrat than the Democrats.”

That would put gun activist Gerald Preiser in the same boat as Mike Bloomberg who has a (fictional?) beef with the NRA but a (pretty real) problem with Bruno.

Strange bedfellows indeed.

Bucking Bruno

Posted by azi on February 8, 2006

Sometimes, Republicans and Democrats sound so much alike, its hard to remember which is which.

State Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno said today that Democrat Tom Suozzi should run for governor as a Republican. Now that’s the kind of non-partisanship Albany needs. (Suozzi has said previously that he’d run in a Democratic primary, if at all, but that he’d be “stupid” not to take their endorsement if it was offered.)

But Bruno’s remarks don’t sound like good news for the four Republicans already running for their party’s nomination. And remember, that olive branch to Suozzi came one day after Bruno said the White House should pull troops out of Iraq.

Sound like anybody we know?

How are Bruno’s remarks being received? One writer on the Republican site Urban Elephants said there should be a campaign to “dump this turkey.”

Sounds like what Democrats have been saying for a long time.
